The Weekend to End BReast Cancer..

I've talked on and on and on about the Underwear Affair, the Ride to Conquer Cancer, but I really didn't say much about the Weekend to End Breast Cancer.

In two days, without much training, I'll be doing 38k in the one day of the weekend to End Breast Cancer. Wish me luck. It's going to be a hard walk that's for sure but it'll be fun.

I'll have my camera nice and charged for this one. Plus I'll be walking so it'll be much easier to take pictures.

Oh my.

And it's going to HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTT!

Goals!

I'm a believer of goals. I love goals. I write them down so I can see what I've achieved and what I have to work on. I'm not a believer in "failure" because I don't think you ever fail at things. They just morph into other things.

Walked with my mom last night and let me tell ya, biking or no biking the Weekend to End Breast Cancer next weekend is going to be hard. I have lost so much tone and stamina it's sad. But like I've said you just have to suck it up. Put some moleskin on your feet hotspots and walk. Because what is the slogan "Cancer is hard, walking isn't" It's true. Cancer is hard. Watching people around you have cancer, having to deal with unknown is brutal. I am very lucky that I haven't had it but in my "circle" I have 3 friends who are in my age group that are fighting it right now! That's 3 people aged 27-36 that have cancer. It's not an "old person" thing. It's an everybody disease.

Speaking of which, if you can spare a few prayers, please go read Kate's story, a beautiful young girl my oldest age has a brain tumor. How is that possible? I know it's possible, because I have a 2 year old cousin who has tumors in the eyes so this disease has no boundaries. Ahh..

Anyways off to the something, with the girls.. Should be fun.. Because isn't taking a 5 yr old and 3 yr old anywhere just joyous :)

$255 left

That's it. That's all. I have $255 more to raise for the one day walk in the Weekend to End Breast Cancer. Or if I was really really lucky $955 to do the full two day walk. But I'm determined so who knows. By the end of this journey this year I will (with the help of friends) will have raised over $7500 towards kicking Cancers butt! I'm very proud of what we've accomplished.

Having yet another party tonight. This is a Stampin up card making party. Pretty excited. I've never done cards. Never really wanted to. But who knows maybe this will be my next addiction..

I think Sal is ready for the home parties to be finished. Although our house has never been cleaner so really I think I might do these parties regularly just so the mess can't take over. :) or maybe I'll just keep the house clean.

On the same note, The Pampered Chef Party will be closing on Friday for those who still want to get in. They ship all over Canada too *hint, hint.

Is the 8th always going to suck?

It is getting better, well not better, just more normal.

I hate the 8th. 3 months ago today, my daddy passed away. I can't believe its only been, and its been so long alternately. I miss my dad's laugh, his smile, his useless knowledge, his temper (how diabolical is that? :))I miss my dad. He was a great great man. And I am very lucky to be able to call him my dad. I love you dad.

On another note, fundraising and training is in full swing. Just a reminder if you wanted to place an order for Pampered Chef please do so by Sunday. You can check my hostess site out at Pampered Chef 15% of sales go towards my fundraising. I'm so close to being able to do all three events. I'm doing and have already gotten the fundraising for The Ride to Conquer Cancer, The Underwear Affair but still need funds for the Weekend to End Breast Cancer. With your help we can make cancer history!!

One down ... Two to go..

YIPPEE!!! I made my 'The Ride to Conquer Cancer' goal. I raised $5000!!! Holy smokes. I can't believe it.

Now I want to see if I can make my Goal of $7300 combining the Weekend to End Woman's Cancer and the Underwear Affair. If you would like to donate please email me at jsminardi@shaw.ca and I'll set you up with the paper form. Or to donate online click here for the Weekend or click here for the Underwear affair.

I am also in the works of doing a few little fundraisers.

Stamp a stack for Cancer through Stampin Up
A Pampered Chef Party
A Usborne Book Party
A Passion Party
And another Round of Coco Brooks Pizza..

I'll let you know more as details become available

I will make my goal. I will make $7500 towards cancer research this year. With your help, we can make cancer history! Wouldn't that be wonderful!!

Shameless plugging

So my epic (ok for me it's EPIC and Inaugural ) "Jenny's Running, Pedaling, and walking for a cure" begins in 3 months! Wow time flies! First up, June 6th - the Underwear Affair where I will run 10km hopefully in under 1 hour! Next up, June 26th to the 28th will be my holy crap I'm insane because I'm riding 200+++km in the Ride to Conquer Cancer. And finally but certainly not least I will be walking at least 30km (hopefully 60k with $2000 in donations) the July 24th weekend in the Weekend to End Woman's Cancer.

I've almost reached my goal of $5000 in the Ride to Conquer Cancer, I have half the money ($150) needed for the Underwear Affair and am really lagging on the WEEKEND TO END WOMAN'S Cancer

It's HUGE. For those who are new reading my blog, this is the reason why

I'll tell you why I'm doing this. Why I am doing this huge journey My dad at 62 years old died. He had a LONG (but actually very short) journey of Metastatic Kidney Cancer. By the time it was found, it had metastasized to his gallbladder, his liver, his lung and 2 other places. By the time he died 14 months later it had went into his bone, skin and brain. 3% of kidney cancer goes to the brain. This was my daddy's luck! It sucked. He had beat cancer before, was told that his 5 year margins were good. And there ya go. But one doctor flippantly said, see you in 7 years. And yeppers 7 years later we assume the cancer started again. 3 years after that my daddy died. Shitty luck. My dad's mom has cancer on her side of the family. That means that my 2 beautiful girls might have that gene, and because my husbands father died of Lung Cancer then they are really screwed. And so are we. So I'm fighting. I'm fighting because this way my kids have a chance to not get this horrible disease. I'm fighting so my kids don't have to watch ME or Sal die from this disease. You can't live your life in fear but dammit I can't let cancer win. So I'm going to RUN, BIKE AND WALK to get rid of this blasted disease.
